Stammering is a disorder of fluency that covers wide range behaviours and is often accompanied by a feeling of loss of control. Cause is not known but there is nothing wrong with the tongue or vocal cords or breathing patterns. Usually starts in early childhood during development of language, some grows out of it. Emotional stress during childhood may be an influencing factor.
Brain scans suggest that people who stammer speech occurs les automatically. The severity of stammering varies, time pressure, excitement, confusion, fatigue, uncertainty and demands for explanation can make it worse. Psychological stress has no effect.
Possible Solution with Hypnotherapy works by redirecting the patient’s focus of attention to pay attention to what they say not how they say it to help with the flow of language.
